Qwertytunes is a small application which lets you play MIDI devices using a standard alphanumeric keyboard. To use Qwertytunes, you will need to have the MIDI Manager installed.
Run Qwertytunes, and select “New” under the “File” menu. This opens a window with a picture of the 40 main keyboard keys, and creates a MIDI Manager port. To attach the keyboard to something, such as a synthesizer on the Modem or Printer port, you can select the destination port name under the “Qwertytunes” menu. Alternatively, you can use the PatchBay application to draw the routing wire.
In the window is a picture of the alphanumeric keyboard. Below each key name is a number, which is the MIDI pitch number. Middle C is 60, and higher numbers are higher pitches. To change the pitch assigned to each key, click on the window’s zoom box (on the upper right corner). This will reveal fields where you may enter a pitch and velocity for each key.
